Are most of the things that humans do based on our original primal instincts?

i took anthropology last semester and survival of the fittest is living long enough to reproduce, ping down ur genes. women don't always go for the stronger. there are actually a few ways of selecting a mate and strength and power is only one of them. another is selecting from within ur group, as in ppl that populate the area, or selecting because that person has red hair and u have red hair and ur children will have red hair. well that's some of the random things that i remember from that cl. as far as race I think its probably just a matter of wanting to be with someone u can relate to. someone that looks like you and understand you and all that cheese. but i'd say yeah. a lot of what we do probably comes from a primal instinct.
